primary point in Zen philosophy is the moment before thinking and personal identity {"me"} appear. It is the physical reality that functions completely without human thought—the realm without words. This is everywere around us, at each moment. My work, ultimately, is about finding/remembering my place "in the family of things" (as the poet Mary Oliver puts it). It is about becoming aware—again and again—of the connections that exist between all of the living world, beyond words. Over and over, I shift from "me-identity" to belonging with the tree, the rock, the sky, the water, sun, moon or the water droplets on a spider's web. The feeling is expansive—all-inclusive. It is coming home.
I live in Oakville, Ontario—in Canada—but my photographs are from many different places. ![]() |
